This is one of the classic Agaricus
species, widely available in Suburbia. It can easily be distinguished by its
sheeting annulus and typically squat stature when growing in very packed
surfaces. When fruiting in softer substrates it tends to develop a leggier
stature with the annulus remaining at the lower part of the stem. Another
distinctive feature is the double annulus that is present in some
fruitbodies. This is the reason why the members of this Section are called
Duploannulati. |
