This cosmopolitan mushroom is probably the most common
Agaricus species in the lawns of suburban California. Apparently it is
the quite frequent elsewhere in the World, acting like a weed when one is
looking for the edible members of the genus. According to some sources it is mildly poisonous
-- I consider it not consumable due the horrific phenol odor, which is
amplified dramatically during cooking (personal experience).
