Amanita breckonii Thiers & Ammirati (1982)

Type collection "Breckon 658", Thiers Herbarium, San Francisco State University. There are no in situ pictured of the true Amanita breckonii depicted here. For a long time it was confused with a different Amanita species in California, which is yet undescribed.

Cells from the gill edge -- clavate to sphaeropedunculate, multi septate

Occasional clamps on hyphae in the hymenium layer. Not observed directly on the basidia by me, but reported so by Rod Tulloss.

Type label

Basidioles, frequently septate, most clusters show no clamps.
