This peculiar Amanita is most common in the South-Eastern USA, although that it has been collected pretty much throughout the sub-Continent East of the Rockies. It's most peculiar feature is  the lavender discoloration that is particularly emphasized in cold weather. The fruitbodies photographed here showed a little bit of that tendency.
