Amanita ocreata  Peck

This beautiful, vernal fruiting White Amanita is one of the two most poisonous macromycetes -- it is fairly common under Live Oak. One popular name for it is "Destroying Angel". It is member of the group around the European Amanita verna/Amanita virosa and A. bisporigera from Eastern NA.

With age Amanita ocreata becomes dirtier gray.
