Commonly referred to as the Queen Bolete in California. For a long time this mushroom was referred to as Boletus aereus in California. It differs from the European species in several key characteristics, the most obvious of which is the viscid pileus.
A lot of white bloom contrasting against the dark cap in young fruitbodies.
