Parasola auricoma (Pat.) Redhead, Vilgalys & Hopple (2001)


This ink cap is somewhat similar, but significantly larger that Parasola leiocephala and can be distinguished completely with some basic microscopy. The spores are quite different and the abundant setae on the pileus can even be seen with a hand lens.

Long, thick walled setae projecting above the pileipellis.

Spores: 12-16x7-8µ
