Cortinarius caperatus (Pers.) Fr.,                                                           *Collections: PNW & Idaho
Familiar former name: Rozites caperatus

This is one rare example of a Cortinarius with a persistent membranous annulus. Until recently this species was segregated into its own Genus Rozites, but as a result of molecular studies it was determined that it fits well within the Cortinarius clades.

Spores: 10-13 x 7-9µ
