Cortinarius illuminus Fr. (1838) *Collection: Europe
This Telamonia stands apart by its uniformly colored orange to red brown cap contrasting against a white cylindrical (to slightly clavate) stipe. It is very similar to Cortinarius armeniacus, but can easily be told apart by its subglobose spores, which are somewhat unusual in this group. The uniform colors and broadly umbonate pileus reminds one at first of a Myxacium species in Section Vibratiles. | ||
