Cortinarius laniger (Fr.)                                             *California and Oregon Collections

This well established Frisian Telamonia was originally described from the conifer forests in Sweden. First recorded from North America by Kauffman and A.H. Smith. Cortinarius bivelus is very similar, but it’s habitat is deciduous forests, mainly birches.

Spores:
  8 - 9.5 (11,12)  x 5 - 6 (6.5) µ  medium verrucose
Taste: earthy, celery like    
Odor
: mild to scenty
