Cortinarius levipileus J. Favre (1955)                                                                  *Collection: Europe

This obscure little Telamonia fruits in the Alpine elevations of the European mountains. The identification is aided significantly by the unusually (for that group)  large and roughly ornamented spores, Like many other Corts, this one does show sterile marginal cells, but nothing that really qualifies as a true cystidia. This separates it from a couple of other species in that obscure group who are described with long cheilocystidia (Cortinarius percavus, Cortinarius inops).

Spores: 10-13 x 7-8µ
