Cortinarius patibilis  Brandrud & Melot 1983                                               Collection: Sweden

This species is positioned in the Variecolores clade where it forms its own mini-clade with closely related species, some from North America (both described and undescribed). They all share the distinct spore shape, which appears somewhat irregular with the "strangulated necks" below the apices.

Spores: 10-12 x 5-6.5µ very uniquely shaped and similar within the close neighbors in the clade.
