Cortinarius subalpinus Moser, nom. prov.           *All collections from Sierra Nevada

This Cortinarius species is one of the most common members of the Spring mycoflora in Sierra Nevada. The overall appearance, plus the broadly ellipsoid to subglobose spores and yellow UV fluorescence place it in Section  Leprocybe.

Spores: 7-8.5(9)x5-6(8)µ

KOH: cap: reddish->brown->olive;  context: cinnamon

This species frequently shows lignicolous habit.
