Cortinarius viridirubescens
is one of the most distinct and beautiful members of the California
Cortinarius flora. Its greenish colors set it apart. Genetically it
falls in the clade of the similarly green Cortinarius
atrovirens/ionochlorus from Europe.
Basal mycelium. is distinctly yellow.
Strong rubescens can be observed in
young basidiomata -- photo Christian Schwartz UCSC
