Nolanea holoconiota Largent & Thiers (1972)

Nolanea holoconiota is the most abundant Nolanea species in Sierra Nevada in the Spring. It is one of the first mushrooms to fruit in the Spring when it is still too cold for everything else. It tends to disappear by the time the Boletes appear and other warmer weather Spring species start to fruit.

At age in dry weather
One of the prominent features of this species is the abundant (sub-) capitate caulocystidia.
