Paxillus involutus  (Batsch) Fr. (1838)

This is one of the 'classic" species with a distribution in the Northern Hemisphere. Until recently (a few decades) it was considered a decent edible, but accumulation of substances from it may cause a sudden illness

In my neighborhood Paxillus involutus thrives in a solid Eucalyptus grove.

Unusually slim form of Paxillus involutus -- Collection from the Eastern USA.
