Hygrophorus discoideus var. californicus Largent (1985)

This species fruits in the high elevations of Sierra Nevada (8,000-10,000ft), under  Lodgepole Pines. I have found it almost always in wet, mossy areas. Compare to the classic European Hygrophorus discoideus.
