Hygrophorus pudorinus var. fragrans (Murrill) Hesler & A.H. Sm. (1963)
This is the brightly colored North American variety of Hygrophorus pudorinus. Whether the North American material deserves to be a variety of the European pudorinus is something that needs more analysis. An interesting feature of this species is that it turns strongly yellow where bruised. Compare to the original European Hygrophorus pudorinus. |
