Hygrophorus pustulatus  (Pers.) Fr. (1838)                                     *California collection

This peculiar little Hygrophorus has dry upper stipe and somewhat viscid lower stipe. The series around  pustulatus - tephroleucus seem complicated and the interpretations in the literature doe not seem quite settled.
