Hypomyces lactifluorum  (Schwein.) Tul. & C. Tul. (1860)

This Hypomyces species afflicts Russula and Lactarius species. It is most likely to parasitize Russula brevipes. When infected, the host mushroom turns orange red. When I first saw these strange fruitbodies little did I expect that some people find them a delicacy. The popular name is "Lobster mushroom".
