This species belongs in the same group as Lactarius deliciosus -- the red/orange-milk, greening on bruising species (Section Dapetes Fr.). What is very peculiar about it is the pale to whitish coloration overall. This species was named after the pioneering mushroom personality in the South West Chuck Barrows.
