Lactarius deliciosus sensu auct. amer. *Collections: California & PNW
This is an undescribed species that goes by the name of Lactarius deliciosus in Calfiornia. It is exceptionally abundant under various conifers. There are several differences against the European concept of Lactarius deliciosus. The easiest to observe difference is the tendency of the American material to turn all green, which makes it somewhat closer to Lactarius deterrimus. Recent molecular studies confirmed that this species is not conspecific with the European. |
