Lactarius scrobiculatus  (Scop.) Fr. (1838)                                                   *Collections: Europe

This beautiful and stately milk cap is the centerpiece in Section Scrobiculati -- the common features of the species in that section is that they have a scrobiculate stalk (those roundish watermarks) and the white latex turns yellow when exposed. Lactarius scrobiculatus is associated with the European Spruce (Picea abies). In montane area it can be seen fruiting together with Lactarius intermedius.
