Lactarius scrobiculatus  var. canadensis                              *Collections: PNW

This is the Western North American entry for the European taxon Lactarius scrobiculatus. It has a less bearded cap margin, but otherwise shares in many of the other features of the Section, including scrobiculated stalk, brunnescent lamellae and milk that quickly turns yellow. Still, in light of recent advances in the genetic studies of ectomycorrhizal mushrooms, it almost certainly will need a new species name.
