Lepiota castaneidisca  Murrill

This mushroom is the California member of the Lepiota cristata complex. It shares the same basic characteristics as cristata, but the cap has more salmon coloration and the scales break differently. Here is an excellent treatment of castaneidisca  from Else Vellinga. This mushroom is fairly common in the San Francisco Bay Area, but I have seen it in Oregon too.
