Marasmius rotula  (Scop.) Fr. (1838)                                                    *All collections from Europe

This is one of the classic Marasmius species with the collar separating the gills from the stipe. It typically grows on small twigs and rotting wood. A similar species, but much smaller and not as frequent that grows on leaves is Marasmius bulliardii. neither of these are known from California.

Sometimes the collar around the stipe does not appear until full maturity.

Typically fruits on twigs and small branches.
