This is one of the most common
lignicolous Mycenas. It varies in appearance quite much, but can be
recognized easily by its medium size fruitbodies and the tendency of the
mature gills to blotch in pinkish/red. |
The cap color of overly mature fruitbodies, changes
significantly. |
This Sierran collection looks like what Murrill called
M. occidentalis and since has been synonymized to M. maculata |
