Pleurotus ostreatus
Despite being described mainly as associated with hardwoods, P. ostreatus is abundant on conifers in Sierra Nevada.

Pleurotus pulmonarius  (California)

I see these small, upright Oysters fruiting in the heat of Mid-Fall in the Bay Area on Oak. No solid morphological differences are specified between P. ostreatus and P. pulmonarius. Other than the DNA evidence, the typical time of fruiting has been mentioned as a major difference. Anyway, despite the nomenclatural conundrum, they tasted very well.
