Psathyrella candolleana complex  (Fr.) Maire (1913)

This cosmopolitan mushroom is the most frequently encountered member of the Genus. It forms a distinct clade with a number of closely allied species. Various morphological schemes have been proposed in order to distinguish a number of species, varieties and forms, but none seems sufficiently effective, as I do see variations even between the fruitbodies in the same patch. Therefore I treat them as a complex
