This species is encountered  in pure beech (Fagus sylvatica) stands. It is similar to Russula chloroides, but can easily be differentiated microscopically as the spore ornamentation is quite different.

Typical habitat -- Fagus sylvatica. Vitosha Mtn. Bulgaria.
