Stropharia riparia A.H. Sm. (1979)

This ubiquitous mushroom can be seen in large outcrops in suburbia, wherever woodchips are present. The popular name is "Highway Stropharia" because it can be seen stretching for miles in the highway dividers covered by woodchips. The name Stropharia riparia is almost certainly misapplied though. There is a very strong affinity to the European concept of Stropharia percevalii, but conspecificity has not been established. Moreover, there are a couple of micro differences that will need to analyzed further.
