Tricholoma equestre
(L.) P. Kumm. (1871)
*Collections: Europe and Western NA
Syn: Tricholoma flavovirens
The "Man on Horseback" is one of the few edibles in Genus Tricholoma. This species is also fairly easy to identify due to its overall yellow color. The yellow gills are key to distinguish it from the somewhat similar Tricholoma sejunctum, which is listed as be toxic. Like many members in the genus this species also has a farinaceous odor that goes away after cooking. | ||
