Xerocomus subtomentosus (L: Fr.) Quél. (1888)
Distinguishing between X. subtomentosus and very similar X. ferrugineus (=spadiceus) can be tricky. What characterizes X. subtomentosus is the glabrous stipe, vs. the stipe of X, spadiceus, which shows a brownish stretched reticulation. smoother, glabrous stipe. There is also some Voodoo Mycology involved. | ||
