Chroogomphus vinicolor   (Peck) Miller (1964)

One of the most abundant Pine associates.

In the Bay Area these species frequently fruit clustered with Suillus pungens or Suillus fuscotomentosus

Very thick-walled cheilocystidia with amorphous incrustations (typical for the Genus). The thick walled cystidia helps differentiate form Chroogomphus ochraceus.
